Sugihara chainsaw guide bars for the professional market
Sugihara have manufactured chainsaw guide bars in Japan since 1957 by Hideo Sugihara. They have been made by the Sugihara family since the factory began with knowledge passed from father to son. Sugihara guide bars have always been produced in the same factory by the same family.
Steel has different properties depending on how it is heated then cooled. In addition, Sugihara chainsaw guide bars go through the process of heating and cooling up to 4 times on different parts of the bar for maximum performance. Therefore the rails need to be accurately cut and hardened. Over hardening can also make them brittle and the bar body needs to be stiff and flexible.
We have used lots of different chainsaw bars over the years including all major manufacturers. Sugihara chainsaw guide bars are the hardest wearing in the market. Even their laminated bars will outlast rivals.
Sugihara chainsaw guide bars durability and strength
The rails are measured on a hardness scale of HRC 60. These bars last longer than Stihl at HRC 57 and Oregon at HRC 55. Sugihara chainsaw guide bars are so hard they resist most flat files when it comes to bar dressing and therefore have superb durability. They also come in a huge range from the smallest 8″ dime tip carving bar up to a 46″ solid single piece bar.
Sugihara chainsaw guide bars come in 3 types
Sugihara Pro Laminated guide bars
These bars are similar to Oregon Pro Lite and Pro Am and Stihl Rollamatic chainsaw bars. They have a sandwich construction where two pieces are welded together with the internal space filled with a punched blank. Sugihara Pro Laminated guide bars are more economical to produce and are lighter in weight.
Sugihara Pro Solid guide bars
Formed and cut from a single piece of steel, Sugihara Pro Solid guide bars have the best durability and stiffness characteristics. They have a lacquered finish. Ultimate durability and performance mean this is the benchmark bar. These bars carry a red label.
Sugihara Light Type Pro guide bars
Similar to solid bars but with sections removed and filled with white resin. This retains all the characteristics of the solid bar whilst making the bar lighter. Sugihara Light Type Pro chainsaw guide bars are sought after for their high performance and light weight. They are clear to recognise by the white resin sections and black labels.
